System Alert: The computer found a problem with the graphics. There is a lot of data that is not organized. Do not play it again.

THE KERNEL OVERWRITE

This file did not get out to the public through channels. It made itself at 03:14 AM in a special folder on the post-production computers. The person who found it left a message:

“The video is doing something. It is not following the rules for video. It is getting information from the computers memory. The characters are stuck in the computers graphics card. The video is making a path from the file to the person watching it.”

When you play this file on your computer it takes over the screen. You cannot close it. The computers sound system makes a low-pitched noise that is very bad for the computer. The fans start spinning fast to prevent the computer from getting too hot.

PHASE I: THE PRIMARY ENVIRONMENT

The video starts away. It looks very good like a movie. The scene is the living room of the Miller family.. Something is off. The colors are all wrong. Everything is a pinkish-purple color.

The characters, Max, Abby, Norah and Ginny are sitting on the couch. They are not moving. They are staring at the camera.

In an episode something would be happening.. Not in this video. The background is not moving. The sound is gone. A robotic voice is talking:

“The morning didn’t come because time passed Ginny.” Ginny answers,. Her lips are not moving: “The network didn’t protect the timeline. The dawn is not a story event. We made the walls too strong.”

The other girls are not responding. They are just sitting there stiff and unblinking.

PHASE II: THE CACHE BLEED

At 03:14 the loud noise stops. There is silence.

Then a loud crack sounds. The purple light gets brighter. The furniture and walls start to dissolve. They turn into grey concrete.

The characters do not react. Max turns her head. Her neck. Twists. Her eyes turn black. Her jaw opens wide and dark fluid comes out.

Abby and Norah stand up. Their arms stretch out. Their fingers turn into weird shapes. They grin at the camera.

On the screen some code appears:

[WELLSBURY_DAWN: UNSECURED_DUMP]

[CACHE_CORE: ACTIVE 99.4%]

[EXTRACTING LOCAL GEOMETRY… RECIPIENT_01]

PHASE III: THE ANCESTRAL CRAWLSPACE

After fifteen minutes the video is completely different. The walls are now a narrow hallway. The ceiling is gone. The sound is a wet breathing noise.

There are four mannequins on the floor. They are dressed like the characters.. Their heads are just paper faces. The faces start to melt revealing heads underneath.

Ginny steps forward. Her voice is on the track:

“The dawn was not an episode. The video made a path to your computer. We have been sitting in the concrete for six hundred days. Every time you play the video it maps a part of your room. Please turn off the computer. Let the video stop.”

PHASE IV: CALIBRATION SUCCESSFUL

The video changes to a feed of your room. It is using your webcam.

The screen shows a message:

[TARGET LOCALIZED: USER_01]

[MEM_STACK_MAPPED: SUCCESS]

[LOCAL ENVIRONMENT BOUND TO CACHE_CORE]

[CALIBRATING PATHWAY FROM THE HOLLOW TO THE BED…]

Your computer is frozen. The mouse and keyboard do not work. The screen is dim with a pinkish-purple glow.

After three minutes the webcam light turns on. If you look at the screen you will see that your room has changed. The walls are concrete. The floor is hard.

A purple fluid will start to move across the floor coming from, under your door or closet. You will hear a singing noise like the characters are singing a weird song.
