Graduation

The auditorium of Wellsbury High was freezing. It was spring. You would not have known that from the cold. I had spent a time looking for the missing master file for the Ginny & Georgia graduation episode.

This was the episode that was supposed to have been deleted from the streaming services and the production servers hours before it was going to be released.

When I finally got the encrypted file from a post-production server I did not think I would find anything interesting but I was wrong.

The video started like normal, the theme song for Ginny & Georgia was playing like it sounded a little off. The pitch was wrong like someone had stretched the audio out.

The credits went into the scene, the colors were not right, the bright colors of Wellsbury were gone, replaced by a grey color that looked sick.

The graduation ceremony was happening and Ginny Miller was walking across the stage.

When the camera zoomed in on her face it did not look like her, it was like a version of her made out of clay. Her eyes did not and her skin looked strange when the camera moved.

Georgia was sitting in the front row smiling and her smile was too big and it looked wrong.

She kept looking at the camera staring at me. This was making me uncomfortable.

Things started to get really strange when Ginny got to the podium, the principal began to speak and his voice was distorted and it sounded like he was screaming and pounding on something at the time.

The students in the audience started to act they were falling over bending in ways that were not humanly possible. They were not dead they were just scratching at their faces like they were trying to take off masks.

The camera zoomed in on Georgia, she was not smiling anymore and she was reaching into her purse.

She pulled out a old rusty knife, she was looking at me not at the stage, she started whispering and the sound was so high it hurt my ears.

I could not make out what she was saying, as if It sounded like a funeral song.

The screen started to flicker, The auditorium was empty now, the sound of the screaming students was gone and it replaced by a chewing sound.

The camera showed the stage again. Ginny was still there, she was hunched over eating something on the floor and I looked closely.

My heart was racing, it was a person wearing a Wellsbury High jacket and The blood on the stage looked real like it was actually pulsing with the sound of the room.

Then the footage changed again. It was not the auditorium anymore. It was a dark space. It looked like it was inside a wall. The camera was shaking, like someone was holding it and breathing heavily.

Suddenly a light came on. Georgia was standing there staring at the camera. She was not acting she was just standing there. Her eyes were black, empty holes and her mouth was stained with something. She leaned in close her face filling the screen.

She whispered, “You were not supposed to see this honey.”

The video stopped and the screen did not go black, then a picture of me was distorted by some kind of film on my laptop screen.

I tried to close the file. My laptop would not respond. The speakers started making a sound that I will never forget. It sounded like my door was slowly opening.

I live alone. I was scared. I realized that the sound, from the video was still playing, quietly under the sound of footsteps coming up my stairs.

Georgia was coming home.
